WE NEED YOUR HELP!

As many of you know JK has been diagnosed with Lyme disease.
We are asking for any help that we can get so that we are able to get JK the treatment that is needed. With him being in Pharmacy school and us living mainly on Student Loans it makes it very difficult to come up with the funds we need to pay for the treatment. We realize that many are struggling at this time, but even passing this on would help tremendously.

In 2008 when we lived in Kansas City he got 2 tick bites, one of which resulted in the Bulls eye rash. When we moved home we took him to the doctor just to be safe and the doctor said not to worry that he was fine. Since then JK has started to feel more and more tired, fatigue, lots of joint pain, and has had a lot of difficulty concentrating. We did some research on Lyme disease and decided to have him tested, and sure enough he has it.
Lyme disease is transmitted by the bite of a tick, and the disease is prevalent across the United States and throughout the world. The disease is caused by a spiral-shaped bacteria (spirochete) called Borrelia burgdorferi. The Lyme spirochete can cause infection of multiple organs and produce a wide range of symptoms. After several months, untreated or inadequately treated patients may go on to develop severe and chronic symptoms that affect many parts of the body, including the brain, nerves, eyes, joints and heart. Many disabling symptoms can occur, including permanent paraplegia, chronic joint inflammation (Lyme arthritis), particularly of the knee (which is something JK is experiencing), Neurological symptoms, such as facial palsy and neuropathy, Cognitive defects, such as impaired memory, and Heart rhythm irregularities.
If you're treated with appropriate antibiotics in the early stages of the disease, you're likely to recover completely. In later stages, response to treatment may be slower, but the majority of people with Lyme disease recover completely with appropriate treatment. We have worked with a Doctor here in Idaho Falls who has Lyme disease and has helped us in finding the best Lyme specialist to go to. She is located in Colorado Springs, Co. and we have been blessed to be able to go and meet with her on August 18th. Treatment is very expensive and nothing is covered by insurance because of the regulations of the CDC. We are looking at probably 18 months of treatment and antibiotics. The antibiotics themselves can run $500 a month.

Thank you so much for your love and support,

Danielle and JK Naylor

Whatever they grow up to be, they are still our children, and the one most important of all the things we can give them is unconditional love. Not a love that depends on anything at all except that they are our children.
